Although the appearance is quite terrible, it turns out some with a food that most Vietnamese believes it contain high protein food. "Balut", is duck or chicken eggs and can be found in Philippine and also available in other southern Asian countries. This food actually means "wrapped". It can be a healthy snacks. Balut commonly sold along the road. It is actually an egg boiled chicken or duck eggs. But what makes it really special and exotic? Its contents an eggs of embryo , either a duck or chicken that is boiled alive. That eggs is already shaped like chicks with beak, feathers and smooth and soft bones. For us it might be a bit strange, right? Well, usually eaten in a warm wrap with mixture of salt, chilies, garlic and vinegar as the toppping. Before eating balut, the 'gravy' or the juice that had in the embryo must be taken first. Then new skin peeled eggs and mature embryo is directly eaten.
